Executives
Executives are unique characters you recruit to run your company. Each one comes with their own name, appearance, personality traits and career, and while assigned to a base they apply their trait bonuses to everything happening there.
You'll find everything executive-related in the HR section, split into three tabs: Roster (your executives), Headhunting (recruiting new ones) and Auction (trading them with other players).
Unlock
Executives unlock once your company reaches 10,000 Prestige. Until then the whole feature stays locked - the HR section, hiring, and the executive slot on your bases.
Headhunting
New executives are found by commissioning a search from one of the galaxy's recruitment agencies: you pick an agency, refine your search brief, and the agency finds you a candidate.
A search costs two things:
Headhunting Points - a company resource that accumulates passively over time, up to a cap of 10. Points are the main limit on how often you can recruit - a plain search costs 3.
Points per Day = 1 + 0.02 × HQ Level + 0.1 × Talent Network Perk Level + Other BonusesSearch fee - a credit cost paid to the agency. Better agencies charge substantially more, and most search options raise the fee further.
Your roster has a limited size: 5 + your Headquarters level + your University slots. Searches are blocked while the roster is full.
Agencies
Every search is placed with one of four agencies, each unlocking at a certain company prestige. Better agencies have a much higher chance of finding rarer, more talented recruits, but charge far steeper fees.
| Agency | Unlock | Search fee | Chance to find rarity | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Uncommon | Rare | Epic | Legendary | |||
| Job Board | 10,000 Prestige | 25,000$ | Strong | Decent | Trace | - |
| Talent Agency | 20,000 Prestige | 250,000$ | Strong | Strong | Slim | Trace |
| Executive Firm | 75,000 Prestige | 10,000,000$ | Decent | Strong | Decent | Slim |
| Apex Partners | ??? | ??? | ? | ? | ? | ? |
Search Options
You can refine the search brief with extra options. Every agency offers the first three; the rest unlock with higher-tier agencies:
- Specialization - narrow the search to a chosen base specialization: all traits useless for it are filtered out of the roll.
- Thorough search - spend double the Headhunting Points for a slightly better chance at rarer candidates.
- Fast track - halve the point cost by paying a Stars fee instead.
- Experienced (Talent Agency and up) - the recruit starts at a higher level, with the earned talent points ready to allocate.
- Young blood (Executive Firm and up) - the search will find a younger recruit, with a longer career ahead of them.
Rarity
Every executive has a rarity: Uncommon, Rare, Epic or Legendary.
Rarity is rolled when the executive is recruited and never changes. Higher rarity generally means:
- More trait slots.
- Each trait can be leveled further before hitting its maximum.
- More talent points, both at the start and per level.
- Slower leveling.
- A higher base value on the auction.
Rarer executives are also more likely to carry a flaw alongside their strengths.
| Rarity | Starting talent points | Points per level | Traits | Flaws |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Uncommon | 2 | 1 | 2 | none |
| Rare | 3 | 1.5 | 2 - 3 | 0 - 1 |
| Epic | 4 | 2 | 3 | 1 |
| Legendary | 5 | 2.5 | 3 | 1 |
Traits
An executive's value comes from their traits. There are two kinds:
- Positive traits - leveled up by investing talent points, covering fields like production, extraction, agriculture or overhead. Some apply to one specific material or consumable.
- Flaws - permanent drawbacks that can't be leveled or removed: either penalties, or restrictions on where the executive is willing to work.
Most traits only apply while the executive works at a base; a few personal ones (like learning speed or retirement age) are always active.
Assignment
At any moment an executive is in one of three places:
- Unassigned - idle in the roster. No bonuses, no experience gain.
- Base - actively managing one of your bases. Each base can hold one executive.
- University - studying, gaining double experience compared to managing a base.
Assigning an executive to a base is free, with a few rules to know:
- Acclimation: a freshly assigned executive needs 30 minutes to settle in before their traits (positive and flaws alike) take effect. Removing them is instant, but every new posting restarts the acclimation timer.
- Restrictions: a flaw can make certain postings impossible; the assignment screen will tell you why. If a base later changes in a way that violates an executive's restriction, they walk out and become unassigned on their own.
- Bump-swap: assigning an executive to an already-managed base simply makes the previous occupant unassigned.
While a base (or your whole company) is in vacation mode, its executive is on vacation too: no bonuses, no aging and no experience gain.
University
The University is your in-house development program. Sending an executive there doubles their experience gain compared to working at a base - the fastest way to level someone up, at the cost of losing their bonuses in the meantime.
- You start with two University slots and can unlock more for Stars, at a cost that rises with each purchase up to a cap of 500 Stars per slot. Every University slot you own also raises your roster limit by one.
The university won't take executives with the Dropout flaw.
Leveling and Experience
Executives earn experience over time, depending on where they are:
| Position | XP gain | Bonuses active | Ages |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base | 1x | Yes | Yes |
| Base on vacation | - | No | No |
| University | 2x | No | Yes |
| Unassigned | - | No | Yes |
Each level-up grants talent points to distribute among the executive's positive traits.
Allocation is permanent, but you can pay a Stars fee to reset talents and reallocate all points from scratch.
Aging and Retirement
Executives age in real time, one year per two real days, and eventually retire. The exact retirement age varies per executive, and you'll be warned in advance once they're close to it. Some traits raise the retirement age.
A retired executive leaves the roster and can't be recruited again.
Auction
Executives can be traded with other players through the Auction tab.
Not yet available
The auction isn't open yet - Coming soon.
Selling
Listing an executive is final - it can't be cancelled, and the executive leaves your roster the moment the listing goes up. They don't age while the auction runs and will end up with whoever wins them.
The starting price derives from the executive's rarity, adjusted up for level and down for age.
Executives close to retirement can't be listed.
Bidding
Bidding works with hidden maximum bids: you enter the most you're willing to pay, and the visible price only rises as far as needed to beat the competition.
Outcome
When the auction ends, the winner receives the executive into their roster and the seller is paid out minus a house fee. If nobody bids, the Federal Reserve buys the executive out at the starting price.
Dismissal
You can dismiss an executive at any time, free of charge. It's permanent - they leave immediately and nothing invested in them is refunded.
